A home away from home (Thanksgiving in Spain)

So apparently not everyone in the world celebrates Thanksgiving :D  However, we were lucky enough to have our friend Ashley not only invite us to her apartment for Thanksgiving, but also host a good 25 others who had no where to go.  Some were auxiliars (from US, Canada and England), like ourselves, and others were just looking to have a good time and experience their first Thanksgiving (coming from Spain and Russia).  We got to meet some really cool people and expand the friends we have made.  Here are some pictures
FOOD!!!!
Now I know a lot of you are like "where the f*&^ is the turkey and ham?!?!?"  Well, the thing is that when you are in a country that doesn't celebrate Thanksgiving it is hard to find Thanksgiving food and, on top of that a lot of apartments do not have ovens.  A lot of people made what they could and, regardless, everything was delicious.  Jenine purchased some food so others can make bocadillos and made some eggnogg with rum (which was extremely delicious and everyone complimented her for it).
Preparations for group picture

Before everyone began to "dig in" Ashley wanted a group picture (would have made my mom proud).
Group photo
Group photo, these are not all the attendants.  A few came later in the evening and brought even more delicious food.
Ashley:D
Thank you Ashley for being kind enough to take the group photo (I really like this picture because you can see a lot of people in the mirror to Ashley's right).
giving some thanks
While eating Ashley had a great idea that we should all tell the group what we were thankful for.  It was a very touching moment.
adorable
Jenine likes the food......... I am not sure why she was making that face.
representing movember
This lovely gentleman to the left is named Mikel and he is from Canada.  He is sporting a mustache for movember.  Also, apparently in Canada they also celebrate Thanksgiving, which is in October.  After having learned this I asked "Why does Canada celebrate Thanksgiving?" to which he replied "I have no idea."  Honestly, do we really need a reason to celebrate Thanksgiving?
This is Helen, one of Ashleys roomates (and our new friend).  I forgot what she was laughing about.
Ashley and Claire
These lovely ladies were the first friends I made in Spain.

In the end it was a really fun night filled with drinking a lot of wine and eating delicious food.  Thank you again to Ashley for planning and the whole apartment for hosting (Ashley, Helen, Katherine and Christine) :D
